Some popular instruments in Mexico are maracas, ukuleles, accordions, trumpets, and ocarinas. Ocarinas are submarine shaped instruments used in old world Mexican folk music ensembles.
One famous Mexican singer is Diana Reyes and she sings duranguense music. Jose Alfredo Jimenez is a singer-songwriter of rancheras music. Gloria Trevi is a Mexican pop-rock singer-songwriter and she is called “ Supreme Diva of Mexican Pop” Luis Miguel is another Mexican singer and he is often referred to as “El Sol de Mexico.” The Auditorio Nacional is a live musical venue in Mexico City and it can hold 10,000 people. Another place to hear music in Mexico City is the Zinco Jazz Club and it is located in the basement of a former bank. Latin music, Mariachi music, Ranchera music, and Tejano or “Tex-Mex’ music are popular in Mexico.

Mexico is bordered by the U.S. to the North of Belize and Guatemala which is in the southeast.
The Pico de Orizaba Veracruz is Mexico’s highest mountain and it is 5,636 meters tall. The Popocatepetl is the 2nd tallest mountain in Mexico and is 5,426 meters tall. Some of Mexico’s deserts is the Chihuahan Desert, the Lower Colorado River Valley, and the Gran Desierto de altar. Xel-Ha Park is a landmark in Mexico and is an aquarium with many different activities. Tulum is another landmark in Mexico and is a resort in Mexico’s Caribbean coast. Xplor is a zip-line park, cave, and an amusement park. One of Mexico’s bodies of water is the Sonora River. This river is 402 kilometers long. The Lerma River is Mexico’s second longest river and is 750 kilometers long. The Cascada de Texolo is a waterfall in Eastern Mexico. This waterfall is roughly 60-80 feet high. One of Mexico’s cities is Cancun and it is known for its beaches, resorts, and energetic nightlife. Morelia is another city in Mexico and it is located in the north central park in Michoiacan in Central Mexico. |

On July 27, 1857 Archduke Maximillian became king of Mexico.
The president of Mexico is Enrigue Pena Nieto and he is the 57th president of Mexico. In 1861, an operation spearheaded by France’s Napoleon III, Great Britain, France, and Spain intervene to protect their investments in Mexico. Spanish and British withdraw, but Napoleon III sends his troops to occupy Mexico City. In 1968, Mexico City was chosen to the Olympic Games. In February 1519, Cortes sails from Cuba with 11 ships, more than 450 soldiers and 16 horses. The Spaniards take control of the town of Tabasco, and they began learning about the great Aztec civilization, ruled by Moctezuma II. In c. 8000 B.C. the first human experiments with plant cultivation began in the New World during the early post- Plestocene period. Squash is one of the earliest crops developed in Mexico. |
