The main religion in Germany is Christianity, 60 -75 percent of the German people are Christians. Germans enjoy big hearty meals. Pork is the most consumed meat, it is used in two traditional meals of braised pork hock and pork stomach. Bratwurst (a form of sausage) is also in many German dishes. Cabbage, beets, and turnips are also worked into many meals because they are native to that region. Potatoes and sauerkraut are also big in German meals. Beer is a big alcoholic beverage in Germany as there are many beer varieties. German Unification Day on October 3 is the day east and west Germany were reunited. Oktoberfest is also a big tradition in Germany that starts in September and lasts 16-18 days. Pork is the most ate meat. Bratwurst is a type of sausage closely associated with German food. Cabbage, beets, and turnips are commonly incorporated into meals, as they are native to the region, and potatoes and sauerkraut are also stars of German cuisine.
